Ravi Shastri among the Final six candidates shortlisted for Team India coach

Ravi Shastri, the current Team India Head coach is among the top six candidates who have been shortlisted for the post of the team coach. Shastri along with the support staff is at present on 45-day extension period for the West Indies tour where the team is scheduled to play three T20s, three One-Day Internationals and two Tests.

The six candidate who have been shortlisted are, Mike Hesson (former New Zealand coach), Tom Moody (former Australian all-rounder and Sri Lanka coach), Phil Simmons (former West Indies all-rounder and Afghanistan coach), Lalchand Rajput (former Indian team manager), Robin Singh (former India’s fielding Coach) and Ravi Shastri.

All the candidates will be giving a presentation to the Kapil Dev headed Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), after which the final decision will follow. Apart from Kapil Dev, the CAC comprises of Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy.

Before leaving for the West Indies tour, captain Virat Kohli had expressed his confidence in Ravi Shastri to which Kapil Dev stated that he respected the skipper’s opinion.

Team India may have failed to succeed in the T20 World Cup in 2016 and the ODI World Cup in 2015 and 2019, but the Shastri-Kohli duo helped the country climb to the top of the Test rankings with a historic series triumph in Australia.
