Australian cricket commentator and former spin bowler, Shane Warne who was once regarded as the best bowler of the time has been banned for 12 months from driving.
The 50-year-old was pleaded guilty at Wimbledon Magistrates’ court for breaking a 40mph limit in a hired Jaguar car in Kensington in August 2018. Although, Warne was not present in the court at the time.
He already had 15 penalty points on his licence for committing five over speeding offences since 2016. The former cricketer was ordered to pay total of £1,845 that included £775 in cost, £900 fine and £170 surcharge.
The Deputy District Judge Adrian Turner stated, “It may well be that none on its own were particularly serious but for points disqualification purpose the triviality of the offence is not to be taken into account.”
Furthermore, “A period of 12 months is necessary for the purposes I have mentioned.”
