India’s leading batsman Rohit Sharma, who had left the entire cricketing world shocked with his smashing perfomance in the ICC World Cup earlier this year, was trolled for his unimpressive opening in a practice match against South Africa where he scored a 2-ball duck.
Rohit Sharma saw himself walking back to the pavilion without even opening the account in red-ball cricket in Vizianagaram on Saturday. Vernon Philander didn’t give Rohit a chance to sweat and sent him back to the stands.
Being given a chance to open for India in the longer format shows a lot of faith in the batsman and with such dismissal in the practice match affects the level of confidence showed upon him. India and South Africa will begin their first Test match on 2nd October at ACA-VDCA Cricket stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Rohit didn’t play in longer format against West Indies last month and after KL Rahul poor show, it was suggested that Rohit should be given a chance to play in the top order against South Africa. Chief Selector, MSK Prasad announced that Rohit Sharma will be given the opportunity to bat in the top order.
After Rohit’s No-show performance, the fans from across the country choose to take a dig on the 32-year-old batsman.
