Sunil Gavaskar doesn’t seem too impressed with Kohli giving away credit to Ganguly

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar stepped forward in defence after current skipper Virat Kohli choose to give away the entire credit to newly appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly for initiating the process of coming down heavy onto the opponent’s mind and playing with great aggression.

On Sunday, India had defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs in their first-ever Day/Night match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Winning the Test series added another 60 to their 300 points bringing their grand total to 360 points on ICC World Test Championship points table.

Gavaskar feeling happy with India’s performance but didn’t feel too impressed with the captain for crediting Ganguly for everything as he stated that this thing started in 2000 with Dada’s team and we are just taking it further.

“This is a fantastic win but I would like to make a point,” said Gavaskar.

“The Indian captain said that this thing started in 2000 with Dada’s (Ganguly’s) team. I know Dada is the BCCI president, so maybe Kohli wanted to say nice things about him. But India were also winning in the 70s and 80s. He wasn’t born then,”

Adding further, he said, “A lot of people still think that cricket started only in 2000s. But the Indian team won overseas in the 70s. The Indian team also won away in 1986. India also drew series overseas. They lost like other teams did,”

“The bowling group is fearless now and they believe in themselves while bowling against any batsman. We are reaping the rewards for all the hard work we put in the last 3-4 years.”

By winning the first Pink ball Test match against Bangladesh, India has once again proven their dominance on the field no matter what the format or the conditions be.
