Steve Smith surpasses Walter, Sachin, Sehwag to mark himself as fastest player to reach 7000 Test runs
After coming back from his year long ban, there’s been no looking back for Steve Smith. The Australian cricketer challenged the low points of life, looking forward with a positive attitude made a huge comeback to his passion. After surpassing legendary Don Bradman’s Test record of 6996 runs, the talented batsman has now become the fastest to complete 7000 runs in longer format.
On Saturday, during the Day 2 of Australia-Pakistan 2nd Test, Smith with his 23rd run registered himself on becoming the fastest to touch 7000 runs in Test cricket. He achieved the feat in 126 innings.
Smith surpassed Walter Hammond (England) who touched the mark in 131 innings, Virendra Sehwag (India) in 134 innings, Sachin Tendulkar (India) in 136 innings and Garry Sober (West Indies)/Virat Kohli (India)/Kumar Sangakkara (Sri Lanka) who achieved the feat in 138 innings.
