Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been absent from the field for over a year after he announced a sabbatical post ICC Men’s World Cup 2019. The Chennai Super Kings captain has geared up to return to the field with Indian Premier League 2020, starting from 19 September in the UAE.
According to reports, Dhoni in on the field to train for the mega event where all eyes are going to be on him. The CSK skipper has hit the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) indoor facility ahead of the IPL, however, with not many bowlers available due to coronavirus, Dhoni has taken on the bowling machine to make the best use of time in Ranchi.
“He (Dhoni) visited the JSCA International Stadium Complex last week. He practiced at the indoor facility using a bowling machine,” stated a JSCA official.
“He did batting practice for two days over the weekend but has not returned since. I honestly don’t know what are his plans or whether he will come back for training. We only know he has visited the facility for practice.”
CSK team is expected to meet in Chennai on 20 August before taking off for the UAE and is also expected to reach there a week ahead of all the other teams.
