To our surprise Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is receiving death threat for taking part in Kali Puja Pandal in Kolkata. So after this he was given an armed bodyguard by the concerned security agencies.
Recently, he grabbed into controversy due to his visit to Kolkata for the traditional Hindu ceremony.
After Shakib received threats for attending the Hindu ceremony, a joint team of the elite anti-crime Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police reportedly arrested Mohsin Talukdar for allegedly issuing an online death threat to the Bangladeshi cricketer. Shakib has been allotted an armed bodyguard after the ace cricketer sparked a massive social media storm in his country.
The former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder had also issued an apology for hurting sentiments after his visit to West Bengal for the inauguration ceremony of a Kali Puja mandap.
Chowdhury added that the BCB has also informed the relevant security agencies. Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has reportedly vowed that strong action will be taken against the culprits.
Speaking to News18, the Bangladesh Home Minister asserted that threatening Shakib or anyone else is not a part of the nation’s culture. “Expression of opinion is fine but not by threatening someone like this. I personally believe that anyone has the freedom to speak his heart. Anyone has the freedom to express his views but that does not mean someone will go against the law and threat someone like this,” he said.
“We all have liberty to express our opinion but not the way the man (accused) has expressed it. I felt that it is an attack on someone’s freedom of speech and expression and we have a law to deal with it,” the minister added.
