This IPL 2020, CSK made a positive start with a win over defending champions Mumbai Indians but remained inconsistent throughout the season and later become the first team to be ruled out of IPL 2020. Despite that, they defeated Kings XI Punjab in their last tie to rule them out of IPL 2020.
Going into the next season, CSK are confirmed to have MS Dhoni’s services. Though they will be without their experienced opener, Shane Watson. The former Australia captain retired from professional cricket after IPL 2020.
