A couple of days after being ignored for a place in Team India for the Australia tour, Mumbai Indians (MI) batsman Suryakumar Yadav was being ignored for a place in Team India for the Australia tour. He reminded the national selectors that after having lost two wickets in eight overs, MI needed an experienced batsman to step up in Rohit Sharma’s absence. And it was Suryakumar who shone under pressure with his match-winning knock of unbeaten 79 off 43.
During his valiant knock, Suryakumar has revealed that Kohli was impressed with his knock but had a stare-off with RCB captain The uncapped batsman looked back at the captain and shared a stare-off but later skipper Kohli encouraged him.
Speaking to Sports Tak, Suryakumar also revealed that he was under lot of pressure during that knock. “After the game, it was completely normal because he walked by my side and he said, ‘Well played, great knock, and all that stuff.’ It was normal like just another day like how you meet your friends and practice. For the 60-65 minutes for which I was batting, it was under a lot of pressure but I really enjoyed that innings.” he said.
The most reliable number 3 batsman in IPL 2020, Suryakumar missed out once again after finishing the season with 480 runs.
He might get his maiden call-up if the regulars are rested for the England series, which takes place next year.
The 30-year-old will next be seen for Mumbai during the 2020/21 domestic season. As for Kohli, the Indian captain is in Australia and will lead Team India in seven matches before returning.
