In the opening ODI of three match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) Team India Suffers a crushing defeat by 66-run from Australia.
Chasing a huge target of 374 runs in 50 overs, team India did make a positive start but continued to lose wickets which saw them being kept at the bay.
However, the fitness of Hardik Pandya (90) did not help out and the visitors lacked the sixth bowling option. His partnership with Shikhar Dhawan (74) didn’t do much to the hopes.
With the win, Australia have gained a 1-0 lead over the Men in Blue.
India has lost four back-to-back ODI’s under Virat Kohli’s captaincy after MS Dhoni who lost five back-to-back ODIs in 2015/16 – one against South Africa and four against Australia.
Earlier this year, New Zealand whitewashed India in the three-match ODI
If India also lose the second ODI, Kohli will join Dhoni in that forgettable list.
Fans expects Shardul Thakur who has shown his batting skills in T20Is, is likely to come in for Navdeep Saini. Ravindra Jadeja isn’t expected to be dropped for Kuldeep Yadav. The rest of the batting and bowling line-up will remain the same. Australia are expected to be without the services of Marcus Stoinis due to fitness issues.
The second ODI of the series takes place on November 29 at the SCG. The match will have a 9:10 AM start.
