A brilliant day for the Indian team as the Shikhar Dhawan led Team India defeated the host by 7 wickets with 80 balls remaining undelivered. The days play began with Sri Lanka winning the toss and opting to bat first. However, the side struggled right from the beginning with no batsman being able to cross the 50 mark. Chamika Karunaratne was the highest scored for Sri Lanka with 43 runs. Sri Lanka managed a 262 total while losing 9 wickets along the way.
India started off with a solid partnership between skipper Shikhar Dhawan (86) and Prithvi Shaw (43). It was a combined effort that helped India build a strong platform for others to follow. Ishan Kishan scored 59 runs, Manish Pandey managed 26 while Suryakumar Yadav finished off with 31 runs alongside Dhawan.
The Indian team achieved the target well within time (36.4 overs) with 80 balls still remaining undelivered.
