Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli, becomes fastest to reach 2,000 run in T20I

Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam reached new heights in his cricket progression while adding another milestone to his list of achievements. On Sunday, the 26-year-old cricketer surpassed Indian skipper Virat Kohli and became the fastest batsman to reached 2,000 runs in the shortest format.

Babar achieved the feat in the third and final T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. It took Azam 52 innings to score 2,000 runs in T20I cricket while Virat Kohli achieved the feat in 56 innings. Australian skipper Aaron Finch is in the third place for scoring 2,000 runs in 62 innings and former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum took 66 innings to reach the landmark.

However, Virat Kohli still leads the chart of most runs in T20I cricket with a score of 3,159 runs at an average of 52.65, while Babar is in 11th place with 2,035 runs in the shortest format of the game.

Azam recently also dethroned Virat Kohli from the No.1 position in the ICC ODI rankings after a splendid outing in South Africa, where he amassed 228 runs from three matches.
