Pakistan had a difficult time during the T20I series at home as the hosts lost by 3-4.
The fans were unhappy and targeted middle-order batter Khushdil Shah for scoring only 63 runs in the series. They were calling him ‘parchi, parchi.
Former Pakistan player Shahid Afridi said , “Fans will worship you if you perform well, and bad performances and criticism are part and parcel of the game. Despite being the main player, if you don’t perform, then be ready to face fans,” Afridi told Samaa TV.
“You can’t run away from fans in international cricket. Give good performances and see the reaction of the supporters. If you are not brave, you can’t face challenges,” he added.
When the anchor claimed that Pakistan cricketers are not open to feedback and criticism, Afridi gave an interesting answer.
“Achhe kapde pehenke banda achha toh lag jaata hai, but asal cheez toh performance hain. Baalo me conditioning karke taiyaar hone se kuch nahi hota. Asal cheez performances hain. Performance aapko khoobsurat banaati hai,” he added.
The Pakistan team is currently in New Zealand for a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh and the host nation.
