Former India cricketer Saba Karim said Surya must bat at the No.4 position in the 50-over format.
He believes SKY should have batted ahead of Pant in the three-match series in New Zealand. Karim suggested that the team management shouldn’t change the combination for the sake of the southpaw.
“I wanted to see Suryakumar Yadav at No.4 in the New Zealand ODI series. You can’t tinker with the combination to keep a left-handed batter in the side. It is not Pant’s fault,” he said.
“Team management is to be blamed for the call. No.4 is the best position for Yadav. It will not benefit SKY and Team India if the decision-makers remain rigid about having a left-hander in the team.”
