37-year old Wriddhiman Saha was not selected for the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka. He is not in their plans to be picked up. However, along with Rishabh Pant, the team and selectors wants to go ahead with KS Bharat.
“Wriddhiman has been categorically told by influential people in the team management that they want to move on and create some new back-ups alongside Rishabh Pant,” a senior BCCI source privy to developments told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
“He has been explained that he won’t be selected for the Sri Lanka series and KS Bharat deserves a chance with the national team. Saha has informed Cricket Association of Bengal president Abhishek Dalmiya and joint secretary Snehasish Ganguly that he Cricket Association of Bengal president Abhishek Dalmiya and joint secretary Snehasish Ganguly that he wouldn’t play Ranji Trophy this season,” the source added.
