In one of his most candid conversations with Star Sports, the right-handed batsman talked about the importance of the national anthem before a game. He revisited the 2011 World Cup, his first exposure to a major ICC event.
He revealed that he always gets goosebumps listening to the national anthem when the full stadium sings it.
“The 2011 World Cup was the first big tournament for me. It was in India, and when the national anthem was played before the match, the full stadium joined and sang along. I had never experienced the same sense of unity before. I had goosebumps all over.”
“Everyone sings it along with you, and they have just one goal which is to India for the win.”
