Born in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad in 1955, Lal has a record of scoring over 10,000 runs with a top score of 287 and a batting average of 46.94. In 2016, he was detected to have jaw cancer and forced to leave commentary.
Lal played 16 Tests and 13 ODIs for Team India. At the domestic level, the right-handed batter represented Bengal and Delhi.
