Before travelling to England, Ravichandran Ashwin tested positive for COVID, but he is now fully healthy and prepared to play in the lone Test against the English.

The 36-year-old took two wickets in the exhibition game against Leicestershire and appears to be in excellent condition for the upcoming Test match.

Still unknown is whether he will participate in the Test. In the four games played last year, Ashwin didn't appear. So, whether or not he will team up with Ravindra Jadeja remains to be seen. But if he succeeds, he will be on the verge of breaking three Indian records.

Ashwin, who has taken 88 wickets in 19 games against England, is only eight wickets away from breaking the record for most wickets taken by an Indian player in a Test match against England.

BS Chandrasekhar currently holds the top spot on the chart with 95 wickets in 23 games. Anil Kumble, who has 92 wickets in 19 games, is second on the list.

He is aiming for one milestone with the ball and another with his bat at the same time. There is no need to introduce Ashwin as a batter. He has 2931 Test runs under his belt and five centuries.

He can therefore become the third Indian cricketer to amass 3000 Test runs and 100 wickets with just 69 more runs in his total.

The 450-wicket threshold is the third milestone the Indian star can hit. Ashwin needs eight more victories to surpass 450 in the Test format. After Anil Kumble, he would become the second Indian cricketer to accomplish the feat.

Thus, Ashwin would achieve three milestones in the upcoming game with eight wickets and 69 runs.
