The Hardik Pandya-led team defeated Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and won the IPL 2022.
Gary Kirsten and Ashish Nehra were the two men who worked behind the scenes. In the IPL's 15-year history, Ashish Nehra became the first Indian coach to win the trophy. Kirsten revealed Ashish's success mantra as well as his coaching philosophy. The former India pacer believes that different plans and strategies should be in place to deal with the ever-changing scenarios that occur during a T20 match.
“Ashish wants players to have options for a match as a set game plan doesn’t work in the IPL. The players need to think for themselves and adjust their game according to the situation,” he said.
The South African player, who has batted against Nehra in the past, shares a good bond with the legendary pacer.
“Ashish is a close friend, and we have walked a long journey together. He is tactically one of the best coaches in the IPL and is always talking to his players about improving the performances,” added Kirsten.
