Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni reached his first international century at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on April 5, 2005 against Pakistan in the second ODI of the six-match series.
India lost Sachin Tendulkar in the fourth over of the innings and soon Dhoni was brought in.
Dhoni along with Virendra Sehwag wreaked havoc however, Sehwag even went past the 50-run mark, he, however, was (74) sent back to the pavilion in the 14th over. Lately, Dhoni got the support in Rahul Dravid and the duo formed a 149-run stand.
Dhoni smashed 15 fours and 4 sixes and he managed to play a 148 runs knock from 123 balls, taking India’s total to 356/9 in the allotted fifty overs.
Apart from it under his leadership, India also managed to attain the number one ranking in Test cricket.
Not just in international cricket, even in the Indian Premier League (IPL), captaining Chennai Super Kings, he has managed to win the tournament three times
