Rob Key's role as the Managing Director of the England and Wales Cricket Board was discussed by former India coach Ravi Shastri (ECB). Shastri believes that in India, a jealous gang always wants you to fail. Key, he said, would learn the system over time and adjust to the situations as they arose.
Shastri, India's head coach for four years, saw his country go through a lot during his time there. He advised Key to stay strong because there will be those who wish for his demise.
“In India, there is always a jealous gang willing you to fail. I had developed a thick skin, thicker than the leather of the Dukes’ ball you use. A real solid hide. Rob will develop this as he does the job because every day, you are judged. I am glad he has a lot of captaincy experience from his time at Kent because the communication with the players is most important,” Shastri told The Guardian
