For the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, Team India is fiercely competitive. Sunil Gavaskar, a cricket legend, has backed Bhuvneshwar Kumar to compete in the global event.

Bhuvneshwar has received praise from the little master. Gavaskar believes the medium-pacer would be a huge asset to the team after being impressed with his bowling in the first two T20Is against the Proteas.

Kumar only appeared in one game during the UAE's 2021 World Cup campaign. In the ongoing T20I series against South Africa, he has taken five wickets in two games.

Speaking on Star Sports, Gavaskar pointed out, “He was just brilliant. The white ball doesn’t swing that much, in the air or off the surface, but he has that capability. And that is why it was excellent captaincy from Rishabh Pant to give him that third over in which he also got a wicket. Because after that, the ball wouldn’t have moved that much as well, and Bhuvneshwar would have been ineffective.”

Australian pitches are known to help the pacers, and Gavaskar feels that Bhuvi will have a significant impact. He added, “But to have someone like him in Australia, where there will be that little bit more carry and bounce, I think that will be a huge plus.”
