In his first official pre-ICC T20 World Cup encounter bowling for Team India, Mohammed Shami made it seem as though he had not been playing in this format for a while. Shami was the biggest hero of Team India's victory over Australia on Monday, which they won by a score of six runs. In the last over, India was had to defend 11 runs. Shami did not bowl a single over during the entire game, yet Rohit Sharma gave Shami the ball during this trying moment. Shami's first two balls yielded four runs each, while his final four balls resulted in four wickets. Suresh Raina, a former cricketer for Team India, believes that Shami is not the best option.

Shami was on the list of standby players while Bumrah was chosen for the T20 World Cup team. Before the competition, Bumrah suffered an injury, therefore Shami was added to the starting lineup in his place. In the warm-up games, Shami shown his ability to save Team India. In the single over, Shami claimed three wickets for four runs. The final over saw a runout for Australia's lone wicket.

Raina stated on NDTV that Shami is not a great substitute since guys like Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are irreplaceable. Both have consistently displayed strong play when competing for Team India. However, you did make the best decision you could. Shami did a good job.
