Former Indian cricketer Paul Valthaty believes that top hitter Virat Kohli should have participated in a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe to rediscover his batting touch.
The BCCI rested some key players and named the B team for the series, which begins on August 18. Many cricket experts believe that having Virat in the squad would have benefited him ahead of the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates in 2022.
Paul Valthaty believes that time in the middle would have been beneficial to Virat's confidence.
He discussed the 33-year-old in an interview with Sportskeeda.
“Personally, when I was struggling for runs, I played many games. You will only start scoring runs by playing matches,’ he said.
“But having said that, Kohli is a legendary player, and I am sure he is after by the team management. So they know what is good for the right-handed batter,’ he added.
