Since Jay Shah declared that India will not visit Pakistan for the 2023 Asia Cup, there have been increasing calls in Pakistan to boycott the fifty-over World Cup.
The competition will be held at a neutral location, according to the BCCI secretary—who also serves as the president of the Asian Cricket Council.
Former Pakistani player Danish Kaneria responded to recent events by saying his nation's cricket board is weak and that Pakistan cannot boycott the 2023 World Cup in India.
“Let people say what they want but the reality is different. Ramiz Raja and Imran Khan had accepted the might of the Indian cricket board. India generates all the revenue and weak Pakistan can’t refuse to play in the World Cup in India,” he said.
Kaneria also suggested a way to deal with the ongoing crisis. “BCCI and PCB should meet in Dubai to discuss about matches as fans want to see arch-rivals competing on the field. The diplomats from India and Pakistan can also be a part of the meeting to resolve the issues,” he added.
