Mahendra Singh Dhoni is well known for his calm, realistic and well calculated captaincy. The former skipper has enjoyed tremendous success while leading India in major international events. His major achievements have been to lead the Indian cricket team to the ICC World Cup, the ICC T20 World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy titles. Dhoni retired from international cricket last year after leading India to three International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament titles as a captain.
Dhoni is the greatest ever white ball captain and his calm attitude penetrates the team he is leading regardless of the situation of the match, said India head coach and former skipper Ravi Shastri.
Dhoni is the greatest white-ball captain ever. Just look at his record in ICC tournaments. What has he not won? IPL, Champions League, all ICC tournaments, two World Cups. There is no one close to him when it comes to white-ball cricket. He has to be the greatest -'King Kong' - you can call him in that fashion," Shastri told Fan Code.
“When you see Dhoni captaining a side, and you see Chennai Super Kings (CSK), there’s that assurance and calmness of things in control. The other side might me whacking sixes or fours but you still get the feeling there is this composure and control,” Shastri added.
Dhoni is currently leading Chennai Super Kings in the second-leg of IPL 2021 in the UAE where the team has been performing well consistently.
After the IPL meets it's conclusion, Dhoni will join Team India as a mentor for the T20 World Cup, scheduled from 17 October to 14 November in the UAE and Oman.
