IND vs NZ: India 1st innings: 258/4 in 84 overs; Iyer and Jadeja remain unbeaten while adding 113 runs


India and New Zealand kicked off with the first Test match after India defeated the guest in a three-match T20I series recently. India opted to bat after winning the toss at Green Park International Stadium in kanpur. 

India were 258/4 at stumps on Thursday. Shreyas Iyer with 75 runs up his sleeves and Ravindra Jadeja at 50 runs remained unbeaten by the end of the first day.

Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara shared 61 runs after losing Mayank Agarwal for 13 runs. India lost three wickets in the afternoon session before debutant Iyer and Jadeja added an unfinished 113 runs to take India across the 250-mark.

New Zealand's bowling sensation Kyle Jamieson remained highlight of the day for taking three wickets while Tim Southee grabbed a single.
