Team India's opening batsman Rohit Sharma is well known for his power-packed innings. From the moment he steps onto the field and till the time he bats, he is bad news for the bowling unit of the opponent. Besides his sensational batting, he has also done wonders with the ball as well. Very few people are aware that Rohit has taken a hat-trick in IPL. 13 years ago, while playing for Deccan Chargers, Rohit showed four Mumbai Indians batsmen the way back to pavilion while helping his side win the match.
Before joining the Mumbai Indians franchise in the IPL, Rohit Sharma used to play for Deccan Chargers. Rohit gave a match-winning performance while playing for Deccan Chargers in 2009. IPL 2009 was held in South Africa and in the 32nd match of this tournament, Deccan Chargers scored 145 runs in 20 overs after winning the toss and batting first. Chasing the target, Mumbai Indians managed a 126-run score in the alloted 20 overs.
This was one such match wherein Rohit Sharma performed brilliantly with both his bat and the ball for Deccan Chargers and won the match. Batting first, Rohit Sharma scored the highest 38 runs for the team and after that he also took the most important four wickets in 2 overs. At that time the captain of Deccan Chargers was Adam Gilchrist, who asked Rohit Sharma to bowl the 16th over.
Rohit Sharma dismissed Abhishek Nair on the fifth ball of the over and Harbhajan Singh on the sixth ball. After this, Rohit Sharma once again bowled the 18th over and dismissed JP Duminy on the first ball and took 3 wickets in three consecutive balls. In this way Rohit Sharma registered a hat-trick in his name in IPL.
