A brilliant day for the Indian team as the 2nd Test started with a power-packed performance by opening batsmen Rohit Sharma (83) and KL Rahul (127*) while simultaneously demolishing England’s bowling attack. Team India with three wickets down finished off day one with 276/3 while opener KL Rahul remained unbeaten for the day with a splendid century giving England a run for their money.

Rahul scored 126 runs with his opening partner Rohit and then had a 117-run stand with captain Virat Kohli (42) for the third wicket to lay the strong foundation for India’ opening innings. The day’s play ended with Rahul batting alongside Ajinkya Rahane who had not yet sealed a strong place for himself on the pitch with just a single run to his credit.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored 9 runs before being dismissed on James Anderson’s ball and skipper Virat Kohli scored 42 runs before falling prey to Ollie Robinson’s ball.
