Team India wrapped up the first innings of the 2nd Test with 364 runs, securing a decent lead against England at Lord’s. Opening pair Rohit Sharman (83) and KL Rahul (129) built a strong foundation for the team while skipper Virat Kohli remained the third highest scorer for the side with 42 runs followed by Ravindra Jadeja with 40 runs.

England opened with Rory Joseph Burns who fell one run short in smashing a half century while partner Dom Sibley managed 11 runs before falling prey to Mohammed Siraj’s ball. England’s Joe Root (48 not out) and Rory Burns (49) rebuilt the team after two early wickets in their first innings as stumps was called with England placed at 119/3 after 45 overs.

By the end of Day 2, Mohammed Siraj dismissed two wickets while Mohammed Shami grabbed a single. The third day is to begin with Joe Root (48 not out) and Jonny Bairstow ( 6 not out).
