IPL 2021: MI vs KKR- Mumbai Indians slide down to 6th place after 7 wicket defeat to KKR

Yet again a disappointing match for the five times IPL champions, Mumbai Indians. On Thursday,  Mumbai witnessed a 7-wicket defeat to Kolkata Knight Riders with 29 balls remaining undelivered.

Kolkata opted to bowl on winning the toss at Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Mumbai got off to a decent start with opening pair Rohit Sharma (33) and Quinton de Kock (55). However, the lack of contribution from the remaining batting order resulted in 155-run total. Kieran Pollard (21) was the third highest scorer for the side followed by Ishan Kishan (14).

Mumbai’s bowling department too failed to restrict Kolkata’s batting lineup with only Jasprit Bumrah grabbing 3 wickets.

On the other hand, Kolkata’s Rahul Tripathi (74) who remained unbeaten alongside Venkatesh Iyer (53) snatched the match right out of Mumbai’s hands well within time, beating the opponent by 7 wickets.

With Thursday’s defeat MI has slide down to the sixth place on the Points Table while KKR is now placed in the fourth position.
