KL Rahul second fastest to hit 3,000 runs

As Punjab Kings (PKBS) starts its IPL 2021 phase 2 campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 21 September in Dubai, Punjab Skipper KL Rahul achieved a new feat in his IPL career to become the second fastest cricketer to score 3,000 runs while Jamaican batsman Chris Gayle holds the first position to reach the mark in only 75 innings. Rahul achieved the milestone in his 80th IPL innings.

Austalian batsman David Warner who plays for Sunriser Hyderabad is third on the list to reach 3,000 runs in 94 innings while CSK super-star Suresh Raina took 103 innings to reach the mark.

On Tuesday, Punjab Kings won the toss and opted to bowl first against Rajasthan Royals. Yashasvi Jaiswal (49 runs off 36 balls) and Mahipal Lomror (43 runs off 17 balls) took KL Rahul led Punjab team by surprise and helped their side to a 185 total in the alloted 20 overs. Punjab opened with KL Rahul alongside Mayank Agarwal who took charge of the chase while scoring 89 runs in the 9th over.
