As the ICC World Cup 2019 has seen the highest number of washouts in a single edition leaving fans from across the globe in disappointment.It seems the weather is playing the villain this season as three matches have been left abandoned due to rain and further weather predictions for the upcoming matches- that includes the India vs Pakistan, doesn’t seem too good.ICC World Cup 2019: Rain playing a spoilsport during World CupThis is first time in the history of cricket World Cup that three matches had to be cancelled – Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, South Africa vs West Indies and Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka.ICC has been criticised by many for not reserving days to have group matches in order to avoid rainy days.As the weather predicts heavy rain in the coming days, it is expected that we may be seeing more cancelled games. Nottingham is experiencing rain for two consecutive days and India-New Zealand is scheduled to play there on 13 June. On 16 June when India will clash against Pakistan in a high-voltage encounter, the Meteorological department has given warning of rain in Manchester.It had been suggested that there should be reserved days in the World Cup schedule as the number of washouts seems to increase.
