The long wait for Dinesh Karthik finally comes to an end on Tuesday as he makes his World Cup debut against Bangladesh at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Karthik has been included in the squad in place of Kedar Jadhav. The change came into affect after India’s first defeat in the ICC World Cup 2019 against England on Sunday.
The 34 year old cricketer made his ODI debut in 2004 with Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Karthik had debuted against England while Dhoni started his ODI career against Bangladesh three months after.
Ever since his debut, MS Dhoni has played four World Cups for India, in 2007, 2011, 2015 and 2019. Although, 2019 is Karthik’s second World Cup as he was part of the team in 2007 World Cup, he did not get a chance to play for the team then, but got an opportunity to play for the team this time.
