After India’s devastating defeat in the Semi-Finals of the World Cup 2019, the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni announced his sabbatical that has lasted till now and it is still not clear when the wicket-keeper batsman will return to the field.
The last match of the three-match series was played in Dhoni’s home town, Ranchi and the fans had big hope of seeing their favourite cricketer after three months. Dhoni showed up on Tuesday at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. On the fourth day of Test match, Dhoni was seen in the dressing room of the Indian team where he was spotted chatting to another Jharkhand cricketer Shahbaz Nadeem, who made his debut in the final match of the Test series against South Africa.
India finished the series with flying colours as they defeated the guest team in all the matches. Dhoni’s presence in the stadium made a big difference for the fans as he is among the most loved cricketers in India.
BCCI and Head Coach Ravi Shastri took to Twitter to express their happiness on meeting the former captain. Ravi Shastri’s tweet read – ‘Great to see a true Indian legend in his den after a fantastic series win.’
Dhoni had opted for retirement from Test Cricket in 2014 to concentrate on shorter formats.
On Tuesday, India registered a remarkable win where they defeated the guest by an applaudable margin of an innings and 202 runs; at the same time defeated South Africa by 3-0.
