Ajinkya Rahane led Team India registered a spectacular 8-wicket win over Australia in the second Test match on 30th December, however, the victory seemed incomplete with the absence of India’s star cricketers that left a little blank spot in the hearts of cricket fans.

However, with a brilliant win in second Test that tied India with Australia (1-1), the news of Rohit Sharma joining the team bought a smile to Ajinkya Rahane, who is captaining the Test series in absence of Virat. Indian captain Virat Kohli left for India after the first Test match to be with his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of their first child.

Opener Rohit Sharma, who has been away from the team for a long time due to an injury he sustained during the Indian Premier League, will soon join the squad. He has been in isolation after reaching Australia.

Rohit had suffered a hamstring injury during a match in recently concluded IPL 2020 and is now all set to join the team after completing the mendatory quarantine period. He is most likely to be included in the Playing XI for the third Test match scheduled to begin on 7 January.

India head coach Ravi Shartri while speaking to reporters on Tuesday stated that they’ll consider Rohit’s fitness before taking a final decision on his availability for the third Test.

“Rohit joins the team tomorrow. We will have a chat with him to see where he is placed physically because he has been quarantined for a couple of weeks. We will have to see now how he feels before we take the call,” said Shastri.
