The World Cup is to begin on 30 May where England will come face to face with South Africa in the first match of the mega tournament. India will play it’s first game on June 5 against South Africa.

Although, Rahane did not make it to the final 15-members Team India squad for the World Cup. However, he stated that Indian team has a strong batting lined up. And, early momentum and consistency will be the vital elements to India’s success as the new round-robin format is in place. In this format, the top ten teams will compete against one-another after which the top four will proceed further.

Rahane said, “Our team is pretty strong and the overall package is very good and well balanced. This time the World Cup will be played in a new format, we will play nine league games, so the momentum and consistency will be the vital key.” Further adding, Rahane stated that Indian bowling attack will give us an edge over others. Both pace and spin are well experienced. Indian bowlers have the capability to take frequent wickets in every situation, which will work in our favour.
