After Team India’s devastating 18-run defeat in the Semi-Finals to New Zealand in the most prestigious tournament, there have been endless discussions over the teams future and the mandatory changes required.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to make some changes as they have invited fresh applications for the support staff, whereas the Head Coach Ravi Shastri too will have to re-apply for the position after his contract expires. Although, their contract was extent for 45 days for the forthcoming West Indies tour but they will be required to re-apply for the post once the contract ends.
Shastri was appointed as Team India’s chief coach in 2017 after Anil Kumble’s contract ended prematurely due to controversial circumstances.
After the expiration of Shankar Basu and Patrick Farhart’s contract, the team will be looking at new trainer and physio.
A BCCI official informed that, “The vacancies will be put up on the website in a days time. Besides the support staff, applications for the post of Team Manager are also invited.”
India begins their West Indies tour on 3 August where they will be scheduled to play three T20s, three One-Day Internationals and two Tests.
