As the entire community of cricket fans grieves over India’s 18-run defeat in the Semi-Finals against New Zealand. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s dismissal has created a controversy as his dismissal may well be a mistake made by the umpires.
After Dhoni’s dismissal, India needed 24 runs off 9 balls which became a difficult task for the lower order batsmen. Dhoni’s end crushed all hopes of India’s chances of winning the Semi-Finals.
Dhoni was declared Run-Out of what should have been a no- ball. The particular dismissal has come under scanner after a video and images go viral.
New Zealand had placed six fielders outside the inner circle whereas as per the rules only five fielders are allowed outside the circle. Taking the images in account, the umpire should have declared the ball as a no-ball. Although, a Run-Out is allowed on a no-ball but it is worth mentioning that an error was made on umpire’s part.
Fans have poured in their views on the controversy.
