Sources close to the squad in England confirmed that Shankar’s injury is nothing to be scare about. Source said, “Yes, Vijay was in pain but it has subsided by the evening. Hopefully, there’s nothing scary,” Shankar had been seen limping and turned up in slippers to the squad’s practice session.

It is expected that Rishabh Pant can make his World Cup debut against Afghanistan on Saturday. Pant did not make it to the World Cup squad but after Dhawan’s injury he was called in as the injured batsman’s replacement.

Pant was BCCI’s first choice as he had showcased spectacular performance in the recent Indian Premier League.
