The Indian team suffered a huge setback as their key batsman Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the World Cup due to a recent injury. Dhawan had suffered a thumb fracture during the teams last encounter against Australia. The news surfaced the limelight on Tuesday when reports confirmed that the opener will be out of action for at least three weeks. And, it would not come as a surprise to us if the player misses out on the entire tournament.
It has been reported that Rishabh Pant will be joining the team as Dhawan’s replacement in the squad for the mega tournament in England and Wales. Pant had missed out on the World Cup squad due to lack of experience but he seems to be the first choice in the current situation.
Dhawan’s last performance had paved the way to India’s spectacular 36-run win against Australia. He was hit on his left thumb by Nathan Coulter-Nile’s ball. He had scored a fabulous 117 off 109 balls.
