ICC World Cup 2019: Rohit Sharma leads the chart of highest run-scorer in the World Cup

Team India’s World Cup campaign came to a crashing end in the Semi-Finals against New Zealand where they suffered devastating 18-run defeat. However, in the times of sorrow there is something that Indian fans can cheer for.

ICC World Cup 2019: Rohit Sharma leads the chart of highest run-scorer in the World Cup

Indian opener Rohit Sharma is the leading man when it comes to the number of runs scored in the mega tournament. Rohit has scored 648 runs in the 9 matches played with his average coming to 81. He has scored 5 superb centuries along with one half-century that adds to his total.

Australian batsman, David Warner is in the second place with a single run short of Rohit’s mark. With Australia’s exit from the World Cup after a disappointing 8- wicket defeat to England, Rohit Sharma gets to keep his No. 1 stop and might as well be named the highest run-scorer of the tournament.

England batsman Joe Root who score a 49 against Australia in the Semi-Finals will be required to hit a century to surpass Rohit Sharma record in the final match against New Zealand on 14 July.
