This World Cup we may get to see a change of traditional as The International Cricket Council (ICC) may invite Veteran cricketer Sachin Tendulkar or 2015 winning captain Michael Clarke to present the World Cup trophy instead of a global body.
As per the tradition, current chairman Shashank Manohar should present the gold trophy to the winning team at Lord’s on 14 July. However, it wouldn’t surprise us if we see Sachin Tendulkar or Michael Clarke presenting the trophy. Although, there is a possibility of British Royal family member presenting the trophy to the World Cup winner too.
According to sources, “There were some discussions whether it could be some legend giving away the trophy because it takes some time for the confirmation to come from Buckingham Palace. But we have heard that the ICC has sent an invite to Buckingham Palace.”
ICC has an agreement with UNICEF and Sachin Tendulkar being the goodwill ambassador, so he may get the honours of presenting the trophy.
