During all the excitement, India’s legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar spoke on who he believes is the “biggest game changer” in T20 format. Gavaskar named West Indies and Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell.

“In Andre Russell the side (KKR) is the biggest game-changer in this format,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Sportstar.

Russell has been a very productive players for the franchise in the last few seasons. Despite of KKR’s not to gratifying performance last season, Russell had lived up to everyone’s expectation with 510-run score in 13 innings with a strike of 204.81. He also proved to be a fruitful wicket-taker with 11 wickets up his sleeves. Speaking of his weakest performance in last 4 seasons of IPL, his lowest strike rate has been 164.91 corroborating the level of performance the cricketer delivers.

According to former Australian cricketer and KKR mentor David Hussey states, “If it benefits the team and helps us win games of cricket, why not? If that means Andre Russell comes in at three and bats 60 balls, he might actually make a double hundred. Anything can happen with Dre Russ.”
