After a brilliant performance against Bangladesh in Indore that comprised of 28 fours and 8 sixes, Mayank Aggarwal played an applaudable 243-run innings that was praised by all. The young cricketer has proved his worth in the longer format and can be a highly useful asset in limited-over format.

However, according to sources, it has been learnt that the talented opener is still unlikely to find a place in the limited-over format in the upcoming series against West Indies scheduled for next month.

“Where is the space in the opening department in the limited overs team? Rohit (Sharma) and Shikhar (Dhawan) are your established openers. There’s no slot at the top for even someone like KL Rahul now. Virat (Kohli) will come back into the team as well,” said a source.

The sources claim that Selectors aren’t too worried with Shikhar Dhawan’s present form in T20I’s, especially during the series against South Africa and Bangladesh.

“Players can go through ups and downs. Mayank can only come in only if Rohit or Shikhar want to take rest, but he won’t be rushed into the T20 side,” he said.

Mayank has played some impressive cricket in his Test career, but he is expected to have a good IPL season to feature in T20I.
