Indian Premier League (IPL) wrapped up the 13th edition with Mumbai Indians bagging the championship for the fifth time after defeating Delhi Capitals in the final on 10 November.

Amongst many players, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s name has emerged after his power packed performance throughout the tournament for the Delhi Capitals. On Wednesday, former India batsman Mohammad Kaif took to Twitter to oppose Ashwin’s non-inclusion in India’s T20I squad. Ashwin who dismissed 13 wickets from 15 outings with an economiy rate of 7.66 managed to grab some crucial wickets like Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and David Warner just to name a few.
Ashwin has not been included in the ODI or T20 squad for Australia, but has only found a place in the Test team. He has not been included in the limited overs team since 2017 and has only been playing Test cricket.
“Virat, Rohit, Pollard, Gayle, Warner, QDK, Karun, Buttler, Smith, Paddikal, Pooran. Read and re-read @ashwinravi99’s list of big scalps from IPL 13, mostly in power plays. Feel Ash can still be a valuable asset for India in T20Is,” Kaif tweeted.
Ashwin will be playing for India in the four-match Test series in Australia scheduled to begin on 17 December.
