
As India secured their seventh win of the mega tournament, a record was registered to MS Dhoni-Ravindra Jadeja combination. The two have become the most successful Indian Wicketkeeper-bowler combination who have together dismissed 29 wickets in ODI cricket. Earlier the record was in Nayan Mongia-Venkatesh Prasad’s name.
Ravindra Jadeja had replaced Mohammed Shami who was rested for the final group match on Saturday against Sri Lanka. Jadeja struck in his first over dismissing Kusal Mendis, Dhoni behind the wickets with his quick reflexes stumped Mendis out for just 3 runs.
With Mendis’ dismissal, the wicketkeeper-bowler combination registered their 29th dismissals in One-Day Internationals. The earlier record was of 28 dismissal registered in the names of Nayan Mongia and Venkatesh Prasad. The second on the list are MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh who have dismissed 25 wickets together in ODI.
Although, if looking at international records then MS Dhoni-Ravindra Jadeja are far behind as the world record holders are Makhaya Ntini and Mark Boucher who have together dismissed 75 wickets.
