Indian professional Cricketers will officially become a segment of BCCI’s decision making policy. The much awaited Players Association will be officially launched in the coming two weeks. Although, for now it may not be a member of international players’ association- Federation of international Cricketer’s Association (FICA).
The official name for the association that was sent for registration is ‘Indian Cricketers’ Association’. Chief of Committee of Administrators told PTI on Wednesday that, “Yes, the work for Indian Cricketers’ Association has been sent for registration but first it needs ensure whether the name is already registered or not. Once the work is done and the name is registered, the central association will decide upon the nominees, both men and women, in the apex council.”
Further adding he said, “Similar to BCCI apex council, the state division will decide on its representatives in the states’ top council. We are grateful to Kapil Dev, Bharath Reddy, Anshuman Gaekwad and former Indian Women’s team captain Shantha Rangaswamy for putting in a great deal of efforts in information of the association.”
The functionality of ICA will be independent of the BCCI and eventually the association will generate its own funds. Although, BCCI will initially provide some grants .
