Ravi Shastri, the current head coach of the Indian cricket team is likely to retain his position as the Head coach of the National team.

After having completed his two-year tenure of the contract and enjoying his 45-day extended period, gets a direct entry for his candidature for the same position.

After the World Cup, BCCI had invited applications for the position of Head couch and support staff. The interviews for the posts will be held in Mid-August and the final decision will follow.

Under Shastri, the Indian team have won over 70 percent of their matches including the recent 50-over World Cup where India ranked highest in the group stage matches, although lost in the Semi-Finals against New Zealand.

Recently, Indian captain Virat Kohli had backed Ravi Shastri to retain his position as the team’s Head Coach.

Kapil Dev who is part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) stated that choosing an Indian coach is not going to be a tough job. And said that he respected Indian captain Virat Kohli’s opinion over Ravi Shastri continuing with his position.

“I respect Virat Kohli’s opinion. In fact, I respect everyone’s opinion,” Kapil Dev told the reporters.
