Mahendra Singh Dhoni has stayed away from cricket post ICC Men’s World Cup 2019 but the much loved cricketer has made every effort to stay connected with his fans through social media.
Recently, a picture was shared where Dhoni is seen celebrating Christmas with his friends and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Pant is often compared to the legendary cricketer and many times has been on the receiving end for his inconsistent performance.
On MS Dhoni Fans Official account, a video and pictures were shared where the two cricketers are seen enjoying their Christmas outing.
Rishabh Pant has filled-in the wicket-keeper’s shoe and is considered as Dhoni’s successor in all the formats. However, many times he has been criticised for his silly mistakes and inconsistent performance.
“Pant needs to improve his keeping skills. We will have him work under a specialist wicket-keeping coach,” Chief Selector MSK Prasad, told reporters.
This year Pant played 12 ODIs but scored just 305 runs with an average of 27.72. He scored just a half-century. The situation had been no different for his T20 record as he played 15 innings but scored only 252 runs at an average of just 21.
After poor performance Pant was kept away but made a comeback against the West Indies. In the ODI series, he scored 117 runs in 3 innings, but during this time he performed so poorly in wicketkeeping that the selectors of Team India announced to have a special wicketkeeping coach for him.
